The downtown will now be colourful and full of cheer as we all enjoy another bustling summer patio season!
The Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area prepped and facilitated a planting volunteer day work on Tuesday, June 13th with the help of the One City green team and community volunteers. The downtown planting day yields a special opportunity for local community members to contribute to the vibrancy of the downtown area, which is now brimming with a variety of fresh new plants.
This year the downtown will be brimming with planters and green spaces for the Green Team to tend to. A series of summer workshops facilitated by GreenUP will also enhance the learning outcomes for Green Team gardeners as they grow their horticultural skills over the season.
The Green Team initiative is a social procurement program made possible by One City Peterborough that provides opportunities for people experiencing barriers with traditional employment The DBIA funds the Green Team, through its Painted Paddle Project – an art auction that runs every year to fundraise money for the Green Team initiative.
This initiative is made possible through the financial support from The Painted Paddle Project and other DBIA partners such as One City Peterborough, Clint’s Property Maintenance and the City of Peterborough. Anyone looking to help enhance the program as a partner can contact the DBIA Vibrancy Manager Hillary Flood hillary@ptbodbia.ca.
